This
is a first attempt at a list of the biographies /
autobiographies / and other books about / by all the
Bob 1970-71 Players. Expect this list to expand...
Key: Year first
released: Title.

collector's list, so there is no reference to different
printings, different country releases, or paperback
editions of the same title, unless it has been
significantly updated.
In the case of the autobiographies I have included the
ghost-writer / collaborator's name when I know it, though
some are missing still.

On Other Sites...
(to follow...)
Where can you get these
books?
Whilst I do not accept
liablity for any bad experiences you may have, these are
the sites I can vouch for from my own personal
experience, in order of preference.
(Bare in mind that
sites 2, 4 and 5, act as middle man for dealers who
may not be individually be trustworthy, so you do
have to take a measured risk. To date - touch wood -
I've not yet had a problem.)
1)
2) www.amazon.co.uk
Best by far
for price if you use the free postage offer and are
buying readily available new releases, as it often
has discount on the books, too.
3) www.soccer-books.co.uk
Again has a
large-order free-postage offer. This site is
especially good at more obscure football statistics
books, and foreign football books unavailable in the
UK elsewhere, as well as for finding out all
the new football book releases.
4) www.abebooks.co.uk
For deleted
books, autographed books, particular editions of
books, collectable books, or just finding out what
there is, this is the best site on the planet (for
football or any subject). It is essentially the
gathering place of every obscure second hand book
shop in the land. Use the search engine well and you
will definitely find the book you need to show you
really thought about for your cousin's 9th wedding
anniversary present.
5) www.ebay.co.uk
More of a
lottery. Watch out the site is addictive, and should
be avoided by those with a weak will to not spend
money. It is the giant carboot sale on the Net. The
beauty of this site is that you will find books you
never knew existed, and now realise you cannot do
without. But beware - books carry heavy postage
costs, and the dealers rarely completely describe how
tatty a book actually is, so look out if your
purchase is for a collection, or a present.
6) www.christies.co.uk or similar
OK I admit
I'm not in this financial league and have never done
it. But I do look at the results of football
memorabilia sales, and some books/collections you
would give an arm or a leg for - or more
realistically, a kidney. And do you know what, it
might even be worth it!
And don't
forget...
7) Charity
shops up and down the land.
The great
thing here is, even if the book's in rubbish
condition, or just a rubbish read - at least you
contributed to the charity you bought it from. And
every so often you will get that bargain you can pass
on at ebay yourself, though nowadays those
opportunities are few and far between as they've
generally wised up and charge as much as the
dealers... spoilsports!
8) Car boot
sales.
The last
place to find a real bargain, it's just you have to
buy it with a) that nagging feeling that it was
probably stolen from another enthusiast somewhere
down the nearest M road, or b) the guilt of knowing
that the sweet old lady just sold her deceased
husband's pride and joy collection for a pittance.
