Lots of new information creeped it's
way onto the site today thanks in part to getting my
hands on "The PFA Premier and
Football League Players' Records 1946-1998" Edited
and compiled by Barry J. Hugman. Lennard Queen Anne
Press, 1998. An excellent book
which I've followed for five editions now. In the
interests of staying non-commerce orientated, I'm not
providing links to books as yet.
Also developed Chelsea's page, and started a Peter Osgood page.

Found an excellent tribute to Stewart
Scullion (Watford) which I've included with various links on the
Second Divison Star Gallery (seeWhere
Are They Now ?)

The 1970-71 footballers have quite a
lot of footballing and famous off-spring which is
highlighted on the new page Sons and Daughters,
which is added to the related subjects section on the
index page. To celebrate, Chris Casper's Dad, Frank, has now got career figures added
News
Related directly to the
above it's good to see Jimmy Lawson's son Ian Lawson
score 3 goals in 4 games for Bury at the beginning of the
new season.

News
Old news I know but
it's great to see that two of the 70-71 players are
raking in the money from advertising. George Graham is
giving his name to the Playstation game 'Player Manager
Ninety Nine', hence his picture and autograph are
appearing everywhere. And George Best is advertising Littlewoods
Pools on giant posters just about everywhere (in Leeds
anyway...).
To celebrate this there is now a full George Best page with career figures, links and a picture.

I can't find a reasonable picture of
John Osborne yet, but have now retrospectively added a
tribute link below (see 10th August, 1999). I have now
made a start on getting Peter Shilton's
picture and career details up.
16th August, 1999
Career figures and pictures have now
been added for Arthur
Mann and John McGrath (see News 10th August, 1999).

Shoot !, the football
magazine, celebrated it's 30th Anniversary by printing
it's list of the top 100 players of the last 30 years.

A new feature to add a
bit of depth and feel to the 1970 -71 pages is the Music
and Films page,
which lists all the number one singles, albums and films
during the 1970 71 season. (WHY????) Find out what was
turning on the players and their fans way back when ... !

Obituaries
One of the worst things
about buying the new season's Rothman's Football
Yearbook', is reading the obituaries and discovering
which of my heroes have died in the previous 12 months
... Consequently this page is very sad to announce the
deaths of Arthur Mann (d.3.2.99), John McGrath (d. 25.12.98), John
Osborne
(d.7.11.98) (see WBA) , and Sir Alf
Ramsey (d.
28.4.99).

Billy
Bremner's
statue will be revealed at Elland Road today, the first
day of the new season. For more information see Leeds United FC - The Official
Web Site. See
pictures of Billy's statue ... including some of me !

The Manchester United page
has now been developed, and there's the following news
...
News (1)
Poor old Denis Smith (Stoke
City), 12 days
before the new season and he's sacked by West Brom. See WBA for more information.
News (2)
Well I finally saw 'OK'
magazine's pictures of Victoria Adams and David Beckham's
wedding (see Victoria & David in Love or The wedding gallery!!!). And who should be there
but Manchester United director, Sir
Bobby Charlton.
3rd August, 1999
I've tried using images from Arsenal's
Official Site to show new pictures of Charlie George.
1st August, 1999
There is a new addition of a brief
story of the Leeds United League Cup win in 1968
including a great picture of the cup winning team too.
25th July, 1999
A busy day. See Where
Are They Now ? for Frank Casper news, which to celebrate, I've linked a picture
of Frank on the Burnley page. There's
also a new article added to the Leeds United page written in 1971 by Peter Lorimer ('s ghost writers). It's called 'Ton Up Plus' all about Peter scoring goals. I've added a
couple of pictures of Peter for good measure including
one of when he was only 15 years old. There's now also
pictures of Mick
Channon linked to the Southampton page to go with the last 'where are they now?'
19th July, 1999
Well, I didn't know who the Blackpool
manager Les
Shannon was, so when I came
across a picture of him and his review of the 1969-70
season, I HAD to include it. There is now also a picture
of Frank
Worthington available from the
Huddersfield Town page. But most fun of all (?) is a
picture of the ground-breaking wave, championed by
Leeds United in the early Seventies.
15th July, 1999 (pm!)
Billy Bremner's page has now got a league record, and a new
fab photo from 1959. And now there's a new 1966 World Cup Winners link, which is partially up and running.
15th July, 1999
The Football League career record of an
individual player has now been added for the first time,
and bizarrely the subject is Rod Belfitt. Ideally, this I would be doing this for all
the players, but that will take YEARS ! So if there's a
player you would like to see added, e-mail me, and it'll
be done !!
11th July, 1999.
There's no doubt that Don Revie was well naffed off at
Leeds Utd being branded as a team that fouled. Indeed Don
was at the forefront of introducing top conditions for
his players. (A point mentioned in the t.v. series, 'The
Manageress" for anyone who saw it). For a chance to
see Don's views see, "What I
Expect From My Players", written by Don in 1970,
and added to the Leeds United
page today.
7th July, 1999.
Welcome to the new NEWS page. Obviously I can't
include every uttering of every player because some of
them are still managers so for that I would recommend
visiting their team's website. If however there is a
newspaper article specifically about one of the 420
players, or about the era generally and I spot it, then
I'll try to include it.
