Bobby Ferguson (West Ham United)

It was really good to hear from Bobby's wife, Greer, with the following update.

Bobby and Greer Ferguson

Bobby and Greer Ferguson

Hi Bob

I was looking up the latest news on the West Ham website and came across your email address and thought you may like to know the latest on my husband Bobby Ferguson who is an ex player.

After arriving in Adelaide in 1981 with our two children who are now 34 and 30 years old Bobby played for Adelaide City for one year and then coached them the following year.

Vacation Soccer Schools was his next venture in the school holidays and was very successful concentrating on the younger generation which he enjoyed.

Bobby during this time also coached for fitness Burnside Rugby Club and really enjoyed taking approximately 66 guys twice a week for fitness introducing "soccer" training into their routine.  This was very successful as it was different from what they had been doing.

We had a snack bar/cafe in Adelaide for 6 years and sold that nearly 18 months ago and now Bobby runs his own home maintenance business making use of his engineering background (his mother insisted he finish his studies in the early days).

He is still very fit and up until pre Christmas was the same weight as he was when he was playing in the First Division all those years ago.

Soccer (or should I say football) (yes !! - Bob) is still part of our lives in the fact that it is spoken about constantly in conversation, our son plays for a local old scholars team and Bobby watches games live whenever he can from Europe and UK.  I have to say that going to the football and mixing with his old colleagues is something he still misses and we have been here now for 23 years.  I guess its a guy thing!!

Hope this information has been helpful and I look forward very much to hearing from you in the near future.

Best wishes for all your articles in 2004.

Regards

Greer Ferguson

Doug Collins (Burnley)

Thanks to Mark who tells me that Doug has moved to Australia, and runs a McDonald's outlet.

Les Green (Derby County)

I received this email, and I won't be specific with personal details, as I don't have permission, but...

Just an update. Les Green is now working for (a motor sales firm) in Leicester.

Requests for Information

To Bob,

Would you be able to help me try to locate ex-
Spurs players from the years 1950-70, first team and reserves.

I am asking because I collect autographs of ex-Spurs players past and present for my own personal collection. I have come to a bit of a dead end with some ex-players that I have been trying to trace.

I was wondering if you would be able to help me with my request in tracking the players down or if you have any information on their whereabouts that I would be able to use as a lead, i.e last known whereabouts.

If you are able to help, then the players I am searching for are: -

Tony Smith, John Collins, Frank Teece, Bill Dodge, Ron Ward, Billy Mail, Jimmy Walker, Jeff Ireland, Alan Read, Brian Fittock, Barry Roffman, John Gilroy and Frank Smith.

If you could help me I would be very grateful.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

John Longman.
