Alan Hodgkinson (Sheffield United)
Alan is
now goalkeeping coach at Oxford United. Prior to his
current post www.truegreats.com reports:
Career

goalkeepers - 7 yrs with Peter Schmeichel, and
Neville Southall. Also all the top Scottish
International g/k's. Goalkeeping coach to Glasgow
rangers, Man Utd, Everton, Man City, Leicester City,
Sheffield Weds and many more
Now
full-time -goalkeeping coach at Coventry City. I do
lectures and coaching sessions all over the world
when time allows.
According to the BBC website Alan was appointed by Gary
McAllister 21 June 2002 and left 4 May 2004,
when Peter Reid became the manager.
Oxford United's
profile appears at http://www.oufc.premiumtv.co.uk
Terry Dolan (Huddersfield Town)
Terry has
been made manager of Guiseley in the Unibond Premiership.
Terry Dolan New Guiseley
AFC Manager
reports:
Born in
Bradford the 56 year-old Dolan began as an amateur at
Bradford City, turning professional with Bradford
Park Avenue in April 1969 and then moving to
Huddersfield Town when Avenue dropped out of the
League.
He was with Huddersfield when they dropped from the
First to Fourth Divisions. He returned to
Bradford City in August 1976, then moved on to
Rochdale before joining non-league Thackley as a
player. He turned to coaching with Harrogate Town, as
player-coach in 1981, and then returned once again to
Bradford City as youth team coach in January 1985.
Later he
moved up to first team coach with City and was
appointed manager in January 1987 and steered the
club clear of relegation with seven wins from the
final ten games.
The 1987-88 season ended with City losing to
Middlesbrough in the play-offs for promotion to
Division One. He was replaced at Bradford by
Terry Yorath but joined Rochdale in March 1989,
leading Rochdale to the fifth round of the FA Cup in
1990 where they lost to eventual runners-up Crystal
Palace.
In early 1991, he left Rochdale, accepting the offer
to manage Hull City, where he stayed for six years,
leaving in 1997 after the club were relegated to
Division Three.
He was given the chance to return to management by
York City replacing Neil Thompson at Bootham Crescent
in February 2000, returning to league management
two-and-a-half years after leaving Hull.
After initially struggling to lift The Minstermen
from the bottom end of Division Three, he worked in
incredibly difficult circumstances to take the club
to within a whisker of the play-offs in the 2002-03
season. York had gone into administration, and
at one stage looked as though they might go out of
existence completely. Despite having to go without
wages during the worst period of the financial
difficulties, Dolan and his assistant, Adie Shaw,
managed to keep results going on the field.
Since his last management job he has been kept busy
assessing referees for the Premier League, doing some
work for the League Managers Association and
summarising Bradford City games for Radio Leeds.

Don Mackay (Dundee United)
Many
thanks to Mike McGeary at
Middlesbrough's Official website, who points out that
Dundee United's 1970-71 goalkeeper, Don Mackay,
is currently Middlesbrough's European Coach. Don is
probably best known in England as manager of Blackburn
Rovers between 1987 and 1991, where he won the Full
Members' Cup in 1987. He also managed Coventry City
1985-86, Fulham 1991-1994, as well as Airdrie and Dundee
in Scotland and Norresundby of Denmark.
Other
posts include: Bristol City Youth Team coach 1974-78;
Reserve Team Coach at Glasgow Rangers around 1986; and
Director of Football at Airdrie, where his squad won the
Bell's Scottish League Challenge Final in 2001-2002.

Jimmy O'Connor (Bury)
Whilst
giving Bury their own page on the site, I stumbled upon a
player whose entire English League football career
occured in the 1970-71 season. Jimmy O'Connor
arrived at Bury in July 1970, and left for Mossley next
season. He went on to set the club's appearance record
over two spells and became the club's manager. His
profile is included on Mossley's magnificent independent
website at Mossley Managers:
Appointed
Manager: December 1984
Sacked : February 1987
First Game: 26.12.84 v Witton Albion home L 0-2
Last Game: 17.2.87 v Irlam Town (M/cr Premier Cup)
away L 2-3
Games in charge: 125
Won 44
Drawn 40
Lost 41
Born:
Lanark 27th June 1951
James Kelly
O'Connor was born in Lanark, Scotland on 27th June
1951. He began his playing career in Scottish junior
football with Kirkstyles before moving south and
signing professional for Bury in July 1970 as a right
winger. He made 7 appearances for Bury scoring 2
goals before injury cost him his place with the club
and he was released.
Having been
recommended to Mossley boss Don Wilson he duly signed
for Mossley in August 1972 and played in Mossley's
first ever Northern Premier League game at South
Liverpool. He quickly became a fixture in the side
and remained so through the next two seasons making a
total of 191 appearances scoring 30 goals before
being transferred to Macclesfield Town in May 1975.
Following
successful spells at Macclesfield and Runcorn,
O'Connor played for Droylsden and cost Mossley a
three figure fee when Bob Murphy re-signed him in
August 1978. By now a central midfield player
O'Connor became a key figure in the all conquering
Mossley side of the late 70's and early 80's and
remained with the club well beyond the break-up of
the Wembley team.
He was
overlooked when he hoped to get the manager's job
following Brian Grundy's departure in 1984 but
following Tony Steenson's quick departure was offered
his chance as Player-Manager in December 1984. He
quickly brought stability back to the club but was
never going to take Mossley beyond mid-table.
The team
was treading water by February 1987 and following a
shock Manchester Cup defeat by Irlam Town O'Connor
and his assistant Paul Webb were dismissed. O'Connor
is remembered more for his playing skills than his
abilities as a manager and in two spells with Mossley
he made an incredible 613 appearances (by far a Club
record) scoring 77 goals.
He had
later spells as a player with Horwich RMI and Buxton
and ended his career with Colwyn Bay after taking
over as a pub landlord in that area. Now a director
of League of Wales Club Rhyl.
